Parameter and Data TypeQuery expression is record(s) filter condition that contain Column Name + Operator + Filter Data Value. Parameter is a temporary memory that used to stores specific Filter Data Value and stores stored procedure output data set values. Parameters can categories into INPUT and OUTPUT parameters. INPUT parameter is used to pass filter data values to a Transact-SQL query or user defined Stored Procedure. OUTPUT parameter is used to retrieve data set values from user-defined stored procedure. Every parameter name starts with @ symbol and end with data type and data size like @Department_Name varchar(50). Parameter name must conform to the rules for identifiers. SQL Server supports all types of data types including text, ntext and image. Even cursor data type can be used only on OUTPUT parameters. A stored procedure can have a maximum of 2,100 parameters. |
