Link Layer Protocol

SLIP

Serial Line Internet Protocol is runs on TCP/IP Link Layer that helps to connect a personal computer into remote dial-up server through dial-up modem and Telephone Line on the Internet. SLIP is designed with IP Packets Encapsulation Method to transmit raw data over a serial connection on the Internet. At a time, SLIP can maintain one network protocol datagram on the Internet. SLIP does not maintain network error-connection, data compression and data packet type identification method on the Internet.

PPP

Point-To-Point Protocol is runs on TCP/IP Link Layer that helps to connect a personal computer into web server through DSL modem and Telephone Line on the Internet. Typically, Internet Service Provider provides DSL and ADSL Hardware Devices along with Point-To-Point Protocol to their Client to communicate personal computer into web host server through ISP Server. PPP is designed with IP Packets Encapsulation Method to transmit raw data over a serial connection on the Internet. At a time, PPP maintain network error-connection, data compression, data packet identification and manage more than one network protocol datagram on the Internet.
